Camp Meridale is hosting its first-ever Christmas Camp this week. The scouts are making their loved ones very unique Christmas gifts.
Every summer, and every Christmas, many parents are scrambling to find something to entertain their fresh-out-of-school children.
The solution to vacation boredom lies about ten miles down one of Meridian's curviest back roads: 22nd Avenue Heights/Causeyville Road. There you'll find about twenty girls making handmade presents for their family.
The three-day camp is a new concept created by some of the scout leaders.
"We always do a summer camp and we just had a lot of interest in doing this, from parents that either had to work or needed to finish shopping," said scout leader, Alisha Parker. "So we decided to do a little three-day camp for the girls and let them make ornaments and decorate."
Camp Meridale's Christmas getaway costs only $25. The gifts given to family members of the scouts are, of course, priceless, even if they are made from a dog bone.
Most of these girls have their Christmas presents ready to give away to someone very lucky. Hopefully, their parents are as prepared for Christmas morning as they are.
